We are currently signing up experts in areas of business law, accounting, information technology, marketing, branding and image management, administration, recruitment and human resources, and a range of other fields to be our resident 'experts'.
How do I Join?
- Read the information below carefully, then download our Ask An Expert Application Form.
- Or CLICK HERE to request a teleconference with our member care representative if you need more information about the program.
How does it work?
- Registered experts will have special access to a database of current member questions.
- Experts will be asked to answer member questions, at no cost to the member or NFIB.
- Experts select the questions they wish to answer.
- Answers are posted on the NFIB website in a secure member-only access area, so ALL members can view the question and answer.
- Answers are subsequently added to NFIB's searchable knowledgebase, accessible to members only.
- The 'expert' retains all rights to the intellectual property, but consents to NFIB's continued use of it.
What's in it for 'Experts'?
Registering as an NFIB 'expert' positions you to develop your reputation and promote your business in an uniquely effective way.
- Answers to member questions are sent directly to the inquirer, with your contact information shown.
- When we re-publish answers you supplied, we acknowledge your contribution. Members will always know who supplied the information.
- You are welcome to include discreet promotional messages in your answers. (Please don't make answers a blatant advertisement, or promote yourself in a way that might offend our member. You must provide worthwhile information, but you are welcome to offer further help and let the member know what other services you can offer.)
- All of our resident 'experts' receive free advertising listings on the NFIB website.
- Experts receive direct referrals and recommendations when members ask NFIB to suggest quality service suppliers for their particular needs.
- Experts are regularly offered opportunities to provide articles for our website or newsletters. Article suppliers receive a free advertisement on the web site or in our newsletter for the month in which the article runs. If the article is added to our web archives, your advertisement is included in the footer, and your name is displayed as author.
Note: Experts don't need to be great writers. Our expert writing team will shape and polish your contribution. We just need you to supply the 'bones' of vital information. Keep it short, focused, relevant, and accurate. Choose subjects of broad interest to independent business operators by considering the questions your customers and our members ask most often.
Our Requirements of Registered 'Experts'
To protect our reputation and our members' rights, we require experts to meet the following requirements. Any expert who demonstrates failure or inability to service members in accordance with these rules may be excluded from further participation in the program.
As a resident NFIB Expert, you must:
- be able to demonstrate skill and knowledge in your field
- demonstrate ethics and integrity beyond reproach in all your business dealings
- offer NFIB members priority business service, with appropriate satisfaction guarantees and fair terms of trade
- offer NFIB members a member discount or special customer benefit of significant value, and allow NFIB to advertise your special offer
- select to answer only those questions that you are able to answer with authority
- answer to the best of your ability, providing real solutions and useful information. You may offer more, noting fees that apply for additional help (e.g. an on-site visit or teleconference), but your response must not be an advertisement.
- regularly contribute to the "Ask an Expert" program by answering questions and providing material for articles
- not demand any payment either from NFIB or from a member for answering a question or participating in the service (NFIB will reward you with free advertising, promotion and referrals. That is the only reward to which participants are entitled.)
- not require any member to whom you provide an answer to purchase a service or offer you any direct benefit in return for your answer. Answers are to be given free and obligation free.
- not claim your registration as an NFIB expert affords you any particular endorsement or special qualification. You are welcome to note in your advertising and on letterheads that you are a 'Registered NFIB 'Expert' in your field whilever you are a current participator on our panel, but you must not state or imply that this suggests endorsement or special qualifications.
- sign the NFIB Gold Member Code of Ethics Agreement, and adhere to it at all times, agreeing to accept the penalties stated for breaches and to allow NFIB member care representatives to intervene in any dispute between you as a supplier and any NFIB member.
