Are retail shop rents too high?

NFIB is concerned that, particularly in certain major shopping centres, shop rents are too high and lease terms are unfair, causing an excessive number of small and start-up retail businesses to fail.  NFIB is seeking legislative changes to ensure leases are fair.  In the meantime, NFIB provides a lease negotiation service to assist occupiers of rented commercial premises to identify unacceptable lease clauses and to negotiate fair lease terms.

Please tell us what you think about shop rents.
