Information we collect

Use of Non-personal Info

We collect non-personal information you provide to our partners or us.  We also collect general information.  When you purchase from our e-store, we collect mailing and shipping addresses.  We do not collect or store your credit card data.  Credit card information is securely transmitted directly to your bank or card service provider.

Unless required by law, we will never use or disclose your non-public personal information other than as necessary to carry out our mission and perform the services you request from us.

We may, where necessary to deliver services you request, selectively share your non-public personal information with our partners and associates. 

We may use information you supply to:

• Alert you of relevant legislative changes and political initiatives
• Notify you of products, services and benefits offered by NFIB, our partners and associates
• Update you on our objectives and progress to achieving goals
• Inform you of changes to our policies and terms
• Facilitate the delivery of services you request
• Email newsletters, notification of membership expiry, and information about special promotions to you.

We will not sell or otherwise disclose your personal information to any third party unless that third party is performing services on our behalf and is bound by an obligation of confidentiality.

General information allows you to measure our members' participation in our programs through different demographic indicators. Behavioural information and opinions (such as voting patterns and results) help us successfully monitor our constituencies and provide useful information to interested parties, enabling us to lobby successfully on behalf of our members.  General information may also be used internally to help administer our web site.  

We use passwords, data encryption, and network security measures to protect your information from unauthorised access.  Our employees sign written agreements governing the use and protection of information.  These precautions do not absolutely guarantee the security of your information from unauthorised access, and you therefore supply information at your own risk.

You may ask us, at any time, to discontinue sending you information and/or to delete your information from our database.  We undertake to comply promptly with your request.                                                          
 
We, and our partners, may periodically contact you via email, phone, mail and/or fax to provide news, survey opinions, make special offers, etc.  Should you wish to discontinue receiving selected or all communications, you may opt-out by sending us an "Opt Out" Email request, or by emailing info@nfib.com.au.  We will promptly remove your contact information from the appropriate distribution list.   

Each email, fax and/or letter you receive will contain information on how to unsubscribe from a particular mail, email or fax service.

We have negotiated agreements with vendor partners who may offer you access and discounts on products and services.  We periodically engage mailing houses, call centres, printers, research firms, an other third party representatives to assist us in serving our members.  We also partner with other organisations actively involved in the political decision-making process.  As far as possible, we endeavour to ensure that our partners and associates respect your privacy and employ valid policies and precautions to protect your information.  We request partners employ similar 'opt out' policies to those used by the NFIB.

Cookies are primarily used for convenience.  A cookie can inform our server that you have returned to our web site and can recall your unique information on repeat visits.  For example, your address details can be retrieved from our database to save you re-entering them every time you make a purchase from our store.

If we allow third parties to advertise on our web site, they may also use small pieces of code called 'web beacons' or 'clear gifs' to collect anonymous information and aggregate advertising metrics (eg. Counting page views, promotion views, or advertising responses). 

We recommend you enable cookies on your browser.  In no event will a cookie discover any of your non-public personal information without your knowledge.

Various sections of our web site may be used for member discussion, commenting, posting messages, and communicating directly with other members, partners and associates.  Generally, these sections contain separate statements detailing rules of use and privacy protection.  Please be aware that information disclosed in these areas may become public, and you should exercise caution in disclosing any non-public personal information.

Our web site contains many links to other destinations on the Internet.  We are not responsible for the privacy practices o any other party.  We encourage you to read the privacy policies of each web site you visit that collects non-public personal information.

You can remove or revise your non-public personal information through our web site by clicking the "Change My Information" link.  You may also contact us by email at info@nfibau.org.

 We reserve the right to review and alter our privacy policy at any time.  We are not obliged to notify you directly of any change, but we will advise the change by prominently displaying a notice on our web site.
