| Although both I and my husband had been involved in running businesses and large organisations, we certainly got a wake up call after purchasing a business in a large shopping centre that was to be redeveloped not long after. We had not been told by the previous owner or the landlord of the impending redevelopment. That changed layout and disruption caused by the redevelopment meant that we quickly found ourselves in the position of losing substantial money and due to the constant changes in the centre unable to initiate strategies to properly address it. NFIB helped us negotiate the surrender of our lease asnd payments in kind to us that meant we had to do little for a defit so were able to restart our lives and had addressed the financial worries of the business. From the position we found ourselves in at that time we achieved the best outcome for us and it was at a very fair rate for all that NFIB did to assist. |

When our body corporate experienced major problems with a letting agent/caretaker, NFIB lobbied State Government representatives for legislative changes and proper law enforcement by bureaucracies. We haven't won the battle yet, but NFIB has been wonderfully supportive, and I am confident its lobbying on unfair contracts will ultimately reduce dramatically the multitude of abuses by letting agents of Letting Agreements with bodies corporate. |
